Information
Focus on Birth is a growing resource for expectant moms wanting a natural unmedicated childbirth. Our goal is to provide woman with birth stories and photos to help encourage them through their natural childbirth process. We want to show and explain an infinite array of natural births…one story at a time.
We are merging our love of photography and natural birth together to reach out to moms and provide them with more information and inspiration for their journey.
It is no secret that with natural birth, you may not know what you are going to want until you are in the moment. It can put your mind at ease having as much knowledge and ideas as possible. This website will provide numerous ideas for dealing with labor, birth positions, relaxation techniques and so much more through real stories of labor and childbirth.
We are looking for women who are passionate about a natural unmedicated birth and interested in helping others expectant moms.
These women (and their families if they desire) will participate in an interview(s) to cover topics related to a natural unmedicated birth:
- Why they want a natural birth.
- Decision-making process for doctors and birth support.
- Growing anticipation and preparation for birth.
- Birth Story.
- Reflections after natural birth.
Women will also be invited to take part in 3 photo shoots (please e-mail for details):
- Maternity
- Birth and/or after birth
- Newborn
All of the information and photos gathered over the course of pregnancy and birth will be compiled to help educate and inform other moms wanting a natural birth of their own.
Thank you so much for your interest in this project! Please click here or on the Contact button above to learn more or apply to participate. You can also visit the Q&A page for answers to some questions you may have. Or, our Writing a Birth Story page for help writing your story.
Although anyone may share their birth story, applicants for the photography project must live in the northeast North Carolina region (including the metro Raleigh, Wilmington, Jacksonville, and New Bern areas).
All our best,
Amanda & Julie
