It all began with a phone call.  ”Hi Amanda, I’m another photographer in the area, and I was wondering if you’d want to trade pictures.”  Little did we know where that phone call would lead (besides a lot of photos!)  It became a shared journey of pregnancy and childbirth like no other.

While we were downtown taking pictures, what a surprise it was to realize we were both pregnant, only a month apart!  A conversation started about natural birth, and we realized the unique connection we had…one of us considering a natural birth for the first time, and the other with 2 past natural births.  It was such an encouragement to find someone to talk to about all the concerns, thoughts, and emotions of natural birth with a shared anticipation of what was to come.

We ended up carpooling to classes at the birth center, and sharing the journey of growing life.  Then there were the late night conversations about upcoming labor, day-to-day challenges of pregnancy, handling sensitive situations when natural birth was the topic, and oh yes, photography!  Imagine putting two camera-crazy pregnant women together!

All of this led to two moments that were connected in the deepest way possible.  Thirty-six days apart, almost to the hour, our little boys greeted us in the exact same spot.  Two different natural birthing experiences, two beautiful baby boys…one marvelous opening of our hearts.

So here we are today…two camera-crazy mothers of little boys on a journey to share how amazing natural birth can be…one story at a time.
